About the work
Two-juan yǔlù of Yúnsǒu Běnzhù 住 雲叟本住 (1620 – 1676-09-17), LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Mùchén Shānwēng Dàomín 道忞 (1596–1674) at Tánzhōu Lóngyásì 潭州龍牙寺. Recorded by fǎsì Yuányī 元一. Front-preface by Běnzhù’s dharma-brother Ruì 睿 of Wòlóng 臥龍, written at the request of Yuǎnān héshàng 遠菴和尚 of Míngzhōu Ruìyán 明州瑞巖. Printed as Jiāxīng Canon J34 B310.
Abstract
Authorship. Per the 住 note: native of Ānlù 安陸 (Húběi). Full precepts at Dàwéishān 大溈山, formal transmission from Mùchén Dàomín at Qīngzhōu 青州. Sole abbacy at the Tang-era Lóngyá 龍牙 site in Tánzhōu (Húnán) — the historic Caves of Lóngyá Jūdùn.
Dating. notBefore = c. 1660 (post-transmission preaching). notAfter = 1676 (death). The Lóngyá monastic-supervisor Huò Xuělín 奯雪林 personally traveled the 3,000+ li from Húnán to Zhèjiāng to commission the publication after Běnzhù’s 1676 death.
Lineage. Mìyún Yuánwù → Mùchén Shānwēng Dàomín → Yúnsǒu Běnzhù. Stands as a parallel sub-line to the KR6q0457 Dábiàn Xiǎnquán 達變顯權 (Dàomín’s other heir at Língfēng / Wǔlěishān).
