Lǐ Guāngdì 李光地 (1642–1718), Jìnqīng 晉卿, hào Hòu’ān 厚菴 and Róngcūn 榕村, was the leading Kāngxī-era Confucian classicist and political adviser. Native of Ānxī 安溪 (Fújiàn). Jìnshì of Kāngxī 9 (1670); rose through the Hànlín to Grand Secretary (Wényuāngé dàxuéshì 文淵閣大學士) under Kāngxī, with extensive responsibility for the imperial classical-compilation projects of the late Kāngxī court — most prominently the Yù zuǎn Zhūzǐ quánshū 御纂朱子全書 (KR3a0108) and the Yù zuǎn Xìnglǐ jīngyì 御纂性理精義 (KR3a0107), both produced under his direction.

He has biographies in Qīng shǐ gǎo 清史稿 j. 262 and Bēizhuàn jí 碑傳集. Both CBDB and the Kanripo catalog meta give 1642–1718. (The CLAUDE.md notes a possible 1720 alternative, but CBDB id 59056 reads 1642–1718, and the Qīng shǐ gǎo matches; the 1718 reading is followed here.)

His own writings, distinguished from the imperially-commissioned ones, include the Zhù jiě Zhèng méng 注解正蒙 (KR3a0028) — the standard early-Qīng commentary on Zhāng Zǎi’s Zhèng méng — the Sìshū jiě yì 四書解義, and the substantial yǔlù preserved in the posthumous Róngcūn yǔlù 榕村語錄 (KR3a0114) edited by his pupils Xú Yòngxī 徐用錫 and his grandson Lǐ Qīngzhí 李清植. Within the late-Kāngxī Hànlín Lǐxué milieu his standing is paramount; on Zhū-Lù-style intra-Lǐxué polemic he is moderate and integrating, often defending Sòng-canonical Zhūzǐxué against Wáng Yángmíng critiques.
