1808–1868), influential late-Qīng physician of Hángzhōu and one of the four great masters of the Wēnbìng 溫病 (warm-disease) school. Author of the Wēnrè jīngwěi 溫熱經緯, Suíxī jū yīnshí pǔ 隨息居飲食譜, and many other works. His advocacy of qīnghuǒ (clearing-heat) and rejection of routine warming-tonification in epidemic medicine elicited a late-Qīng wēnbǔ 溫補 reaction in paediatric and smallpox practice (cf.
