Shānghán lèi shū huó rén zǒng kuò 傷寒類書活人總括

General Compendium of the Cold-Damage Genre Books for Saving Life by 楊士瀛 (Yáng Shìyíng, Dēngfù 登父, hào Rénzhāi 仁齋, fl. mid-thirteenth century, 南宋)

About the work

A seven-juan late-Southern-Sòng Shānghán compendium by the Fúzhōu physician 楊士瀛 Yáng Shìyíng (Rénzhāi 仁齋), the author of the better-known Rénzhāi zhí zhǐ 仁齋直指 (KR3e0045). The work is conventionally identified as the “Shānghán lèi shū” 傷寒類書 component of Yáng’s broader oeuvre — a genre-organized compendium of cold-damage clinical material — combined with the Huó rén zǒng kuò 活人總括 (“General Compendium of Huó rén shū”), Yáng’s earlier digest of 朱肱 Zhū Hóng’s Lèi zhèng huó rén shū 類證活人書.

Abstract

The Kanripo source file is effectively empty (header only) — body content has not been digitized into the jicheng.tw edition Kanripo carries. The work is bibliographically attested as part of Yáng’s oeuvre and is sometimes catalogued as part of the Rénzhāi zhí zhǐ 仁齋直指 in extended recensions. Composition window 1250–1264 is bracketed by Yáng’s productive period and the completion of his Rénzhāi zhí zhǐ in 1264.

The work is one of the principal Southern-Sòng Shānghán digests in the post-Zhū Hóng tradition — Zhū Hóng’s Huó rén shū (preface 1107) being the dominant Northern-Sòng Shānghán clinical reference, and Yáng’s Zǒng kuò the most authoritative thirteenth-century abridgement and updating of that material.

The Kanripo jicheng.tw edition is a stub. For the actual text content, see Yáng’s complete works in modern collected editions or the Rénzhāi zhí zhǐ main entry.
