X329 in four fascicles is 智旭’s phrase-by-phrase commentary on [[KR6i0327|Léngqiéābáduōluó bǎo jīng 楞伽阿跋多羅寶經]] (T670), paired with the [[KR6i0345|xuányì]] (X328). The pair structurally mirrors the Tiāntái-school’s commentarial doublet on its principal sūtras (xuányì + wénjù); 智旭 adapted that pattern from the Tiāntái master tradition to the Laṅkāvatāra.
Abstract
Date bracket follows 智旭’s late productive period at Língfēngsì 靈峯寺 (1635–1655). The yìshū draws on the doctrinal programme laid out in the xuányì and applies it lemma-by-lemma to the parent sūtra. The commentary is doctrinally syncretic in 智旭’s characteristic late-Míng manner — Yogācāra, Tathāgatagarbha, Chán, Tiāntái, and Pure-Land categories all engaged as the parent sūtra warrants — and is one of the most thorough monastic commentaries on T670 produced in the late imperial period.
X328 + X329 + Hānshān’s X326 + 曾鳳儀’s X330 + 通潤’s X331 together represent the late-Míng Laṅkāvatāra commentarial canon, constituted within roughly one generation of monastic and lay scholars in the Wànlì–Chóngzhēn–early-Qīng transition.
