Structural Outline of the Compendium on Bhikṣuṇī Rules of the Sìfēnlǜ by 允堪 (Yǔn Kān, 述)

About the work

A single-fascicle structural-outline ( 科) of Dàoxuān’s three-juan Sìfēn bǐqiūnī chāo 四分比丘尼鈔 (KR6k0155) by Yǔn Kān 允堪 (允堪, 1005–1061), the leading Northern Sòng Vinaya master of the Nánshān 南山 lineage at Hángzhōu’s Línghuásì 靈花寺. outlines were a standard genre of the Sòng Vinaya tradition: each major commentary by Dàoxuān received a numbered subdivision-tree from a Sòng successor as a study aid. Yǔn Kān’s signature is 天台沙門 允堪 述 (Composed by Yǔn Kān, monk of Tiāntái).

Prefaces

No separate preface; the opens directly with its three-tier subdivision (initial title, body, transmission).

Abstract

The divides Dàoxuān’s KR6k0155 Sìfēn bǐqiūnī chāo into a tree of nested topics keyed to the head-words of the source text, allowing a reader to navigate the work systematically. As Yǔn Kān’s date can be securely placed within his lifetime (1005–1061), the work belongs to his mature Vinaya output, which forms the core of the eleventh-century Sòng Nánshānlǜ revival together with his commentaries on the KR6k0144 Sìfēnlǜ hánzhù jièběn shū and on KR6k0156 Sìfēnlǜ suíjī jiémó shū.
