About the work
A 15-juan early-Qīng continuation of the Sēngbǎo zhuàn tradition (KR6q0040 + KR6q0041), covering Chán biographies from the Southern Sòng through the Yuán and Míng. Compiled by Zìróng with substantial supplementary material added by Xìnglěi.
Abstract
The work completes the three-part Sēngbǎo zhuàn sub-tradition by adding the post-Northern-Sòng generations that 慧洪 Huìhóng’s original (KR6q0040) and 祖琇 Zǔxiù’s first continuation (KR6q0041) had not covered. Editorial method follows the established Sēngbǎo zhuàn literary-biographical format. Circulated in the Jiāxīng 嘉興 canon.
