Other points of interest

The cluster of five Qing commentaries on the Chánlín bǎoxùn preserved in Xù zàng jīng volume 64 (KR6q0153 through KR6q0157) testifies to the continuing importance of the Chánlín bǎoxùn as pedagogical reference in the late-imperial Chinese monastic curriculum. Each commentator adopts a different editorial format (yīn yì, hé zhù, niān sòng, shùn zhū, bǐ shuō), providing a cross-section of the Chinese late-imperial commentarial genre-ecosystem as applied to a single parent text.
