Announcement-Speeches of Chán Master Sānshān Lái of Gāofēng
A three-juan supplementary collection of Sānshān Dēnglái 三山燈來’s (1614–1685) ceremonial-announcement speeches (shū yǔ 疏語: a specific genre of formal public announcements read at monastic ceremonies — precept-ordinations, merit-dedications, temple-openings, etc.). Compiled by his dharma-heir Biéān Xìngtǒng 別庵性統 (1661–1717), complementing the Wǔ jiā zōng zhǐ zuǎn yào KR6q0169 and the nián pǔ KR6q0209 in Xìngtǒng’s broader editorial project of preserving his master’s corpus.

The shū yǔ 疏語 genre occupies an unusual place in the monastic literary canon: these are not Chán doctrinal-teaching sermons but formal public-ceremonial addresses, delivered on occasions of monastic-institutional activity. The three-juan scale reflects Dēnglái’s substantial institutional-ceremonial output across his 70-year career.
