Gǔkūn 古崑
A late-Qīng Pure Land monk active in the Hángzhōu 杭州 region during the Tóngzhì 同治 / Guāngxù 光緒 reigns (mid-to-late nineteenth century). Lifedates not preserved with precision; he was active c. 1860–1890. He is the most prolific late-Qīng compiler of Pure Land popular-devotional anthologies — three of his works are preserved in this catalog division: the 《西歸行儀》 Xīguī xíngyí KR6p0085 (X1468), the 《淨土隨學》 Jìngtǔ suíxué KR6p0106 (X1187), and the 《淨土必求》 Jìngtǔ bìqiú KR6p0107 (X1188) — all short, accessible Pure Land devotional handbooks aimed at lay-Buddhist readers.
His sobriquet Gǔkūn lǎorén 古崑老人 (“Old Man Gǔkūn”) suggests a long-lived senior monastic; the consistent style and intellectual orientation across his three works (devotional, lay-oriented, drawing heavily on the late-Qīng 彭際清 Péng Jìqīng tradition of literati Pure Land scholarship) place him firmly in the late-Qīng Pure Land revival that fed into the early-Republican Pure Land masters Yìnguāng 印光 (1861–1940) and others. Beyond the colophons of his works no substantial biographical record survives.
