Níng 寧 (full dharma-name Dàoníng 道寧), zì Tǐzōng 體宗 (“Bodily-Tradition”); often referred to as Tǐzōng Dàoníng 體宗道寧 or Yúnfēng Tǐzōng 雲峰體宗 from his abbacy. LínjìYángqí 32nd-generation dharma-heir of Pòshān Hǎimíng 海明 (1597–1666). Born 明萬曆戊戌六月初十日午時 = 1598-07-12 Gregorian; died 康熙八年 = 1669, age 72, sēnglà 37. Native of Lúzhōu 瀘州 (Sìchuān); lay surname Lǐ 李.
Formation. At 15 left home (told only his mother). At 25 traveled to attend lectures. At 35 met Shuāngguì 雙桂 (= 海明 Pòshān Hǎimíng); served at his side for ten years and received final fùfǎ.
Abbacies. Lúzhōu Fāngshān Yúnfēngsì 瀘州方山雲峰寺 (the principal seat — entered 順治九年三月十三日 = 1652-04-21, on the invitation of Chuānnándào official Wú Dēng 吳登 of Lúzhōu); Jiāngān Pánlóngsì 江安蟠龍寺; Nánxī Kāiyuánsì 南溪開元寺. The Yúnfēngsì abbacy is famous for having ordained the young Zhúlàng Chèshēng 徹生 in 丁酉冬 = 1657 winter (cf. KR6q0544).
Disciples (six). Cángzhōu Pǔzé 藏舟普澤, Qīngsù Dénè 清素德訥, Xiàoxū Xìngkōng 嘯虛性空, Dànxuán Fāngyáo 澹玄方瑤, Wéimì Dàoshēn 微密道深, Zhànyī Xùqīng 湛一續清 續清 (compiler of the yǔlù).
Work. KR6q0548 《雲峰體宗寧禪師語錄》 1 juan, J38 B431, compiled by fǎsì Zhànyī Xùqīng 續清 děng biān. Two prefaces: by Shèngkě Déyù 德玉 (signed 華岩法弟德玉) dated 康熙乙丑孟夏浴佛日 = 1685-05-10, and by Zhúlàng Chèshēng 徹生 (signed 青城法姪徹生) dated 康熙乙亥正陽佛誕之吉 = 1695-05-19.
