Recorded Sayings of Chán Master Tǐ-zōng Níng of Yún-fēng [-sì] by 寧 (說), 續清 (等編), 德玉 (序), 徹生 (序)
Single-juan yǔlù of Tǐzōng Dàoníng 寧 體宗道寧 (1598-07-12 – 1669, age 72, sēnglà 37), LínjìYángqí 32nd-generation dharma-heir of Pòshān Hǎimíng 海明 (1597–1666). Native of Lúzhōu 瀘州 (Sìchuān), lay surname Lǐ 李. Compiled by his fǎsì Zhànyī Xùqīng 續清 děng biān.
The yǔlù documents three Sìchuān abbacies: Lúzhōu Fāngshān Yúnfēngsì 瀘州方山雲峰寺 (the principal seat, entered 順治九年三月十三日 = 1652-04-21 on the invitation of Chuānnándào 川南道 official Wú Dēng 吳登 and the assembled prefectural gentry); Jiāngānxiàn Pánlóngsì 江安縣蟠龍寺; and Nánxīxiàn Kāiyuánsì 南溪縣開元寺. The Yúnfēngsì entry is the same monastery where Zhúlàng Chèshēng 徹生 was ordained as a shāmí in 丁酉冬 = 1657 winter (cf. KR6q0544).
Two cross-lineage prefaces are preserved: by Shèngkě Déyù 德玉 (signed 華岩法弟德玉, “younger dharma-brother”) dated 康熙乙丑孟夏浴佛日 = 1685-05-10 (Buddha’s Birthday); and by Zhúlàng Chèshēng 徹生 (signed 青城法姪徹生, “younger dharma-nephew”) dated 康熙乙亥正陽佛誕之吉 = 1695-05-19. notBefore = 1652 (Yúnfēngsì entry); notAfter = 1695 (latest preface). Other points of interest
The text was published roughly 25 years after the master’s death, with prefaces composed across a 10-year span (1685, 1695) by two younger Pò-shān-line cousins both based in major Sìchuān monastic centers (Huáyánsì and Qīngchéng Fènglínsì). This pattern of late-Kāngxī cross-monastery preface-exchange is characteristic of the Jiā-xīng-canon Sìchuān cluster (cf. KR6q0538, KR6q0539, KR6q0544, KR6q0545, KR6q0547) and reflects the post-Sānfān-luàn institutional consolidation of southwestern LínjìYángqí Buddhism.
