Xíngzhōu 行舟 (Jièwéi Xíngzhōu 介為行舟)
Early-Qīng LínjìYángqí Chán master, 33rd-generation Línjì (行-generation Mìyún sub-line). Principal dharma-heir and textual-editorial executor of Wànrú Tōngwēi 萬如通微 (1594–1657, cf. KR6q0404). Fǎhuì Xíngzhōu 行舟, zì Jièwéi 介為, biéhào Kòujì 扣寂. Lay surname Zhào 趙, of Chǔ Miǎnyángzhōu 楚沔陽州 (Húběi Qiánjiāng region). Father Zhào Shìjié 趙世節 (hào Jìmíng 季明), mother Dùshì 杜氏. Lifedates c. 1611 – 康熙 9 庚戍 4.9 = c. 1611 – 29 May 1670, age 60 suì / sēnglà 44 per the xíngzhuàng at KR6q0424 juan 10.
Training. Age 11: mother’s death → abandoned Confucian studies; tonsured at Huángānxiàn Dōnglínsì Xīchántáng 黃安縣東林寺西禪堂 in Húběi under Chúnxīnshī 純心師. Age 18: traveled 5 years through WúYuè with shībó 師伯 Tóngshān 童山. At Tiāntóngsì under Mìyún Yuánwù 密雲圓悟 for棒打 testing. Decisive awakening at Biànshān Lónghuásì under Rùjiù Míngxuě 入就明雪 on the rìwǔ dǎ sāngēng 日午打三更 phrase. Returned to Tiāntóng for 10+ years. Under Fèiyǐn Tōngróng 費隱通容 at Jīnsù served as zhīkè 知客. Co-managed the 1647 funeral of Xuějiào Yuánxìn 雪嶠圓信 at Yúnménsì (built the 辨才古塔 辨才古塔 for the master). Finally arrived at Lóngchíshān 龍池山 under Wànrú Tōngwēi — received formal sealing as principal dharma-heir.
Six abbacies (1649–1670). (1) Jiāxīng Nánhú Rúrúān 嘉興南湖如如菴 — Shùnzhì 6.2.13 (= 25 March 1649) entry, escorted personally by Wànrú; 7-year tenure. (2) Dūmén Pǔjì Chányuàn 都門普濟禪院 (Běijīng) — 1656. (3) Lóngchíshān as post-Wàn-rú administrator 1657–60 (supervised Wànrú’s KR6q0404 yǔlù cutting). (4) Wújiāng Hǎiyúnsì 吳江海雲寺 — 1661–64. (5) Sūjùn Bàoguósì 蘇郡報國寺 — 1664–68. (6) Wújiāng Chéngtiān Wànshòusì 吳江承天萬壽寺 — 1669–70 (final abbacy, restoring the Sòng-era Bàoběn Yuán 報本元 chánshī seat with Míng Zǐbó Zhēnkě and Chán-enriched literati-patronage background).
Editorial significance. Xíngzhōu supervised the post-mortem cutting of Wànrú Tōngwēi’s yǔlù immediately after Wànrú’s 1657 death (= the present KR6q0404 = Jiāxīng J26 B182). He is therefore the direct editorial link connecting Wànrú’s textual corpus to the J26–J28 Jiāxīng Canon tradition.
