Bǎochén 寶臣 (DILA Authority A001919; Sòng dynasty, lifedates not securely recorded) was a Sòng-period monk active in the eastern capital (東都僧 — i.e. Kāifēng under the Northern Sòng, before the move to Lín’ān in 1127). He is known almost exclusively for his single surviving work, the Zhù dàshèng rù léngqié jīng 注大乘入楞伽經 (KR6i0334, T1791) in ten fascicles — a substantial commentary on 實叉難陀’s [[KR6i0329|Dàshèng rù léngqié jīng 大乘入楞伽經]] (T672), the seven-fascicle Tang version of the Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra. The biographical record of 寶臣 is otherwise essentially empty, with the exception of the colophonic notice at the head of T1791 that identifies him with the eastern-capital saṅgha. Should not be confused with the Sòng commoner Fēng-yǒu-fú 豐有孚 (zì Bǎochén; DILA A001920), who was a layman and an official, not a monk.
