Chāojiàn 超見, Liǎozōng 了宗 (“Penetrating the School”); often referred to as Pánshān Liǎozōng 盤山了宗. LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Dàbó Xíngqián (1602–1673, cf. KR6q0584). Born 明萬曆甲寅九月十五日 = 1614-10-17 Gregorian; died 康熙二十七年 = 1688, age 75. Native of Shùntiānfǔ Bǎodǐxiàn 順天府寶坻縣 (Héběi); lay surname Yáng 楊.

Formation. Vegetarian from childhood. After an illness in youth, his parents permitted ordination. Tonsured at Lóng-quán-ān 龍泉菴, took full ordination at Mǐn-zhōng-sì 愍忠寺 (the major Beijing precept-platform), studied scriptures. One day during a Śūraṅgama lecture at the qī chù zhēng xīn, bā huán biàn jiàn 七處徵心八還辯見 passage, suddenly had insight. Went south to cān-fǎng — Tiān-tóng, Xuě-dòu, Tiān-tāi. Returned to study under Dà-bó Xíng-qián and received final fù-fǎ. Served three years closely.

Abbacies. Began with retreat at Rénshòusì 仁壽寺, then moved to Pánshān shíshì 盤山石室. Then held a sequence of major Héběi abbacies: Nántāi 南臺, Lóngyún 隆阭, Wànshànsì 萬善寺, Zhèngfǎsì 正法寺 (= Pánshān Gǔzhōngpán Zhèngfǎsì, the principal seat), Fàngshēngyuàn 放生院, Pǔdùsì 普渡寺, Guānyīnsì 觀音寺, Rénshèngsì 仁聖寺.

Disciples. Major fǎsì include Huīzhōu Hào (cf. KR6q0573), Níngyī Xiān 寧一暹, Lǎngkōng Shùn (cf. KR6q0585), Chèxuān Xīng 徹軒惺, plus others.
