About the work
The Língshū jízhù in nine juan is the companion volume to Zhāng Zhìcōng’s Sùwèn jízhù (KR3ea008), printed two years later, in 1672, as the second product of the Lǚshān jiǎngtáng 侶山講堂 academy in Qiántáng 錢塘 (modern Hángzhōu). It is the first systematic commentary on the Língshū — the partner classic of the Sùwèn in the Huángdì nèijīng corpus — since the Sòng校正醫書局 collation, and the first to read the Língshū doctrinally as a coherent treatise rather than as a heterogeneous collection of acupuncture, channel-theory, and pathological essays.
Prefaces
The author’s preface (KR3ea025_000.txt) frames the Língshū in terms of the Han bibliography: the Hàn shū yìwén zhì records the Huángdì nèijīng in eighteen juan, of which the Língshū takes nine and the Sùwèn nine. Zhāng follows the early-Qing convention that the Língshū “treats how disease is cured” while the Sùwèn “treats how disease arises” — and therefore the Língshū deals more with the channels of acupuncture, the jǐng yú shū jīng hé 井滎俞經合 system, and zhēnfǎ 針法. He laments that Língshū commentary has been historically neglected — 王冰 Wáng Bīng commented only the Sùwèn, and the Sòng校正 supplied minimal apparatus to the Língshū — and presents the Jízhù as the first attempt at parity. Like the Sùwèn jízhù, the work is collaborative: the marginal voices of the Lǚshān pupils, especially 高士宗 Gāo Shìshì, are preserved.
Abstract
The Lǚshān reading of the Língshū emphasizes its doctrinal unity with the Sùwèn through the qìhuà 氣化 framework: the eighty-one pian of the Língshū are organized around the operation of qì in the channels (經) and the network vessels (絡), with detailed correspondences to the Sùwèn’s yīnyáng pathology and wǔyùn liùqì doctrine. Zhāng’s collaborators (高士宗, 莫子晉 Mò Zǐjìn, 朱濟公 Zhū Jìgōng, et al.) provide signed sub-commentaries on individual pian. The work was the dominant late-Qing Língshū commentary, displaced only in the late-19th c. by the Tamba Língshū shí (KR3ea026).
The jicheng.tw source is the late-Qing re-cutting from the restored Lǚshān prints. Like the Sùwèn jízhù, the original 1672 blocks were destroyed in the Tàipíng wars and the text survives through the late-19th-c. recovery from the Dīng Sōngshēng / Wáng Gēngméi / Yáo Shòuzhī / Chǔ Dūnbó private holdings in Hángzhōu.
