About the work
Twenty-juan definitive zhènglù 正錄 of Qìngzhōng Tiěbì Huìjī 慧機 慶忠鐵壁慧機 (1603–1668), second-generation head of the Jùyúnpài 聚雲派 and chief Sìchuān Línjì dharma-heir of Jùyún Chuīwàn Guǎngzhēn 廣真. Stands in definitive-edition relation to the 3-juan selective 《慶忠鐵壁機禪師語錄》 at KR6q0450 (J29 B240, early 1642 recension): this B241 is the full chóngbiān 重編 expansion covering the master’s complete 32-year preaching career across ten abbacies, prepared after Tiěbì’s 1668 death by his dharma-heir Zhúfēng Huànmǐn 幻敏 竺峰幻敏 (1638–1707). Printed as Jiāxīng Canon J29 B241. Opens with the same two prefaces as B240: the Xióng Rǔxué 熊汝學 (崇禎壬午秋九日 = 1642/9) and Móu Dàoxíng 牟道行 zhēbiǎo prefaces. Closes with juan 20 containing (i) the 《慶忠機和尚年譜序》 of Lǐ Dàojì 李道濟 (西江弟子) dated 康熙甲寅孟春上浣 = 1674/1; (ii) the 《治平鐵壁機禪師年譜》 compiled by the other chief dharma-heir Wànfēng Zhìshàn 萬峰至善 (qián zhù Tánzhōu Wànfēng sìfǎ ménrén 前住潭州萬峰嗣法門人); and (iii) the 《行狀》 formal biography.
Abstract
Dating. notBefore = 1639 (Tiěbì’s Chóngzhēn 12 accession to the Jùyún abbacy on Guǎngzhēn’s death). notAfter = 1674 (Lǐ Dàojì’s Kāngxī 13 preface to the year-chronology of juan 20, the latest datable signature in the corpus). The overall compilation was completed in 1674 or shortly after, incorporating material post-dating Tiěbì’s Kāngxī 7 戊申 9/21 = 1668/10/26 death.
Structural relation to KR6q0450. B240 (3 juan, 1642) captured only the opening three years of Tiěbì’s Jùyún tenure with Xióng Rǔxué and Móu Dàoxíng as contemporary lay-disciple prefaces. B241 (20 juan) retains those two prefaces verbatim but expands the interior corpus to include (a) the later seven abbacies at Dìzàngyuàn, Yínwēng, Yúnlái, Qìngzhōngsì, Yúnyán, Bǎoshèngsì, and the final Zhìpíng / Lóngchāng Chányuàn 治平 / 龍昌 on the Bái Jūyì willow-site; (b) the 《治平鐵壁機禪師年譜》; (c) the 行狀.
Year-chronology. The 《治平鐵壁機禪師年譜》 by Wànfēng Zhìshàn is the single most detailed biographical witness to Tiěbì: it begins at Wànlì 31 癸卯 10/20 寅時 = 1603/11/22 with the master’s birth at Yíngshān 營山 (Sìchuān), lay surname Luó 羅 of a multi-jìnshì scholar-gentry household, and ends with the Kāngxī 7 death at Zhìpíng. Lǐ Dàojì’s preface compares Zhìshàn’s year-editing to Ānanda’s sūtra-compilation: tóngshī zhī biānnián, qí yóu Ānán zhī jiéjí yě zāi 童師之編年其猶阿難之結集也哉.
Lineage and heirs. Twenty-three named dharma-heirs per the 《續燈正統》 j. 16 roster, of whom two figure prominently in the B241 apparatus: Sānshān Dēnglái 燈來 (whose fùfǎ certificate Tiěbì composed, but who does not compile this B241 — his parallel work is at KR6q0448 / KR6q0449 / KR6q0450 and his own yǔlù at KR6q0454) and Zhúfēng Huànmǐn 幻敏 (this volume’s chóngbiān compiler, with his own yǔlù at J40 B483 outside KR).

Other points of interest
- Different compiler from B240. Where B240 was edited by the dharma-grandfather-line heir Dēnglái in 1642 (alongside the Guǎngzhēn volumes), B241 is edited by the other chief heir Huànmǐn in 1674 (after Tiěbì’s death). The chóngbiān 重編 designation in the catalog meta reflects Huànmǐn’s comprehensive re-editing to include the niánpǔ and xíngzhuàng apparatus absent from B240.
- Scholar-gentry lineage. The Luó family of Yíngshān produced multiple jìnshì across generations — noted in the niánpǔ opening entry as jiāshì yǐ yījīng chuán duō kējiǎ 家世以一經傳多科甲 — making Tiěbì one of the few Sichuan Chán masters of the period from a continuous scholar-official pedigree.
