Tamba no Motoin 丹波元胤 (also 多紀元胤 Taki no Motoin, sinicized Dānbō Yuányìn, 1789–1827), zì Yìxǐ 奕禧, hào Shàowēng 紹翁, was the elder son of 丹波元簡 (Tamba no Mototane) and the principal continuator of the Tamba philological program at the Igaku-kan 醫學館 during the brief period (1810–1827) between his father’s death and his own early death at thirty-eight. His magnum opus is the Yī jí kǎo 醫籍考 (Chinese: Zhōngguó yī jí kǎo 中國醫籍考) in 80 juan, an exhaustive bibliographic survey of Chinese medical literature — Mototane began the work and Motoin completed it; printed posthumously in 1832 — which remains an indispensable reference for the philology of Chinese medicine. He died in Bunsei 10 = 1827. After his death, the leadership of the Tamba circle passed to his younger brother 丹波元堅 (Tamba no Motokata).
