Hóngchǔ 弘儲 (also 宏儲 — DILA standardizes both), zì Tuìwēng 退翁 (“Retired Old Man”), also Jìqǐ 繼起 (“Successor to Rise”). Born 明萬曆乙巳 2/8 日出時 = 1605-03-26 Gregorian; died 清康熙壬子 9/27 = 1672-11-16 Gregorian, age 67 (《五燈全書》卷 69). Lay name Lǐ Jīn 李金, zì Zhònglián jūshì 仲連居士.
Lineage and significance. Principal LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Hànyuè Fǎzàng 法藏 漢月法藏 (1573–1635) — the chief continuator of the Sānfēng 三峰 sub-line which became the central target of imperial-era doctrinal suppression. Carried the Fǎzàng line forward through Sūzhōu Língyánsì 蘇州靈巖寺 (whence the biéhào 靈巖儲) and Yáofēng 堯峯 abbacies. Recorder of his master Fǎzàng’s yǔlù KR6q0473 《三峰藏和尚語錄》.
Imperial suppression. The Yōngzhèng emperor’s 1733 《御製揀魔辨異錄》 (KR6q0168) declared the Fǎzàng → Hóngchǔ Sānfēng line heretical, banned their writings, and ordered the dismissal of their dharma-heirs. Despite this, Hóngchǔ’s KR6q0475 《南嶽繼起和尚語錄》 was preserved in the Jiāxīng Canon’s J34 cluster.
