Tōngxiù 通琇, zì Yùlín 玉林 (variant 玉琳); often referred to as Yùlín Tōngxiù 玉林通琇 or Yùlín Guóshī 玉林國師. Imperially-titled by the Shùnzhì emperor as Dàjué chánshī 大覺禪師, then Dàjué Pǔjì chánshī 大覺普濟禪師, then Dàjué Pǔjì Néngrén Guóshī 大覺普濟能仁國師 — the most prominent LínjìYángqí guóshī (state preceptor) of the early Qīng. LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Tiānyǐn Yuánxiū 圓修 (1575–1635) — one of the four founders of the Qìngshān 磬山 sub-branch. Born 明萬曆四十二年四月二十日 = 1614-05-28 Gregorian; died 康熙十四年八月初十日 = 1675-09-28, age 62. Native of Jiāngyīn 江陰 (Jiāngsū).
Imperial preceptorship. 順治十六年 = 1659 invited to the Shùnzhì court; bestowed Dàjué chánshī title. Continued as imperial confidant through Kāngxī’s accession. Served as the principal LínjìYángqí ecclesiastical figure at the high Qīng court — comparable in stature to Mùchén Dàomǐn 木陳道忞 道忞 who simultaneously served the same role.
