Gāozōng 高宗 of the Qīng — Hónglì 弘曆 (1711–1799), reigning under the Qiánlóng 乾隆 era-name (1735–1796, then Tàishàng huáng until 1799), posthumously Chúnhuángdì 純皇帝 — fourth emperor of the Qīng at Beijing, grandson of Kāngxī, son of Yōngzhèng. His reign saw the consolidation of Qīng territorial expansion and the great cultural projects, foremost the Sìkù quán shū 四庫全書 commission of 1773–1782. The Qiánlóng emperor’s yùzhì (imperial-composed) xù, bá, zàn, shī prefaces and colophons appear at the head of many of the SKQS works in this corpus (e.g. KR3a0021, KR3a0046, KR3a0048, KR3a0079). Author of Rì zhī huì shuō 日知薈說 (KR3a0104) in 4 juan. The Qiánlóng-period taboo on his personal name 弘 (substituted as 宏 throughout the SKQS) is the major textual marker of Qīng-period imperial taboo.
