Recorded Sayings of Chán Master Xiàng-lín Běn-zhēn of Bái-yún [-sì] by 本真 (說), 照水 (重梓), 妙心 (序)
Single-juan yǔlù of Xiànglín Běnzhēn 本真 象林本真 (1620 – 1691 summer, age 72), LínjìYángqí lineage. Native of Suízhōu 隨州 (Húběi). Zhòngzǐ (re-engraved) by his sole fǎsì Xǐxīn Zhàoshuǐ 照水 (subject of KR6q0572); preface by lay disciple Miàoxīn 妙心 dated 順治巳亥歲佛歡喜日 = 1659-08-30 (Yúlánpén day).
Documents teaching at his principal seat Qízhōu Zǐyúnshān Báiyún chánsì 蘄州紫雲山白雲禪寺 (entered 順治甲午仲冬初 = 1654-12). The compact one-juan extent likely represents an earlier curated selection rather than the full output of his 37-year preaching career. notBefore = 1654 (Báiyún entry); notAfter ≈ 1700 (post-1691-death zhòngzǐ). Contents. Single juan: preface (Miàoxīn, 1659); niānsòng on classic gōngàn (世尊初生, 女子出定, 世尊拈花, 殃崛救產難, 德山托缽, 百丈野狐, 南泉斬貓, 靈雲見桃花悟道因緣); jì including verses to and from his disciples (與洗心水西堂 to 照水) and contemporary monks (秋浦, 雲衲明, 自覺, 此藥, 佛月照, 竹菴 lay-Zhào jūshì), plus fóshì and a closing xíngshí.

Other points of interest
KR6q0571 and the immediately following KR6q0572 form a teacher-disciple pair (Běnzhēn → Zhàoshuǐ), parallel to the KR6q0569–KR6q0570 pair (Xínggāo → Chāoyuán). The same disciple Zhàoshuǐ (照水) earlier re-edited his tonsure-teacher’s collection KR6q0234 《正覺潤光澤禪師澡雪集》 — i.e. Zhàoshuǐ functioned as the textual-archivist for both his ordination-line and his transmission-line, an unusual editorial double role.
