Lǚ Dòngbīn 呂洞賓 (trad. b. 796), hào Chún yáng zǐ 純陽子 (Master Pure-Yáng), was a Táng-era Daoist immortal, one of the most culturally influential figures of Chinese religion — reckoned one of the Bā xiān 八仙 (Eight Immortals) and the patriarch of the Quán zhēn 全眞 school (via Wáng Chóngyáng 王重陽, who traced his lineage to Lǚ). Traditionally said to have passed the jìn shì exam in 846 and thereafter attained immortality under Zhōng lí Quán 鍾離權. Enormous hagiographical, literary, and alchemical literature surrounds him. He is the nominal author of KR5c0301 Chún yáng Lǚ zhēn rén yào shí zhì 純陽呂眞人藥石製 — a Míng-era pseudepigraphical alchemical-pharmaceutical text.
